In 2009 Dandy’s came to the rescue of thousands of households, businesses and the emergency services and councils when we created Ultragrip Rock Salt; an emergency de-icer which proved essential in keeping Britain moving when stocks of traditional rock salt ran out at the salt mines.

Ultragrip lasts longer and provides more traction than traditional road grit because we blend a 1-6mm teeny tiny stone into it. The addition of this stone to the salt means that, long after the salt has dissolved, the grit will remain to provide resistance on any new ice and frost. As it is much heavier than normal rock salt it will also last longer and prove more effective at melting snow when the fall is greater than expected.
